Menurut sejarah tradisi ini diperingati setiap tanggal 17 Jumadil Awal/Maulud Ke 3 oleh masyarakat sekitar, yang tinggal di sekitar kaki Gunung Bintan. Tradisi ini muncul sejak tahun 1943 atau bertepatan dengan zaman penjajahan Jepang. Masyarakat sekitar melakukan ziarah ke Makam Leluhur Raja-Raja Bintan di Bukit Bijana dengan membaca doa dan membawa pulut kuning serta bunga telor .
Menurut Dalmasri Syam, MM bahwa hal ini merupakan budaya setempat yang wajib di hormati dan di lestarikan sehingga keanekaragaman budaya yang berkembang di masyarakat hendaklah terus dipertahankan sehingga memperkaya Budaya Indonesia.
Pada kesempatan tersebut Wakil Bupati Bintan Dalmasri Syam, MM juga mengatakan mengenai bidang pendidikan di daerah Tambelan. Dikarenakan letak geografis Kecamatan Tambelan yang cukup jauh dari Kabupaten Bintan , maka Pemerintah Kabupaten Bintan akan fokus meningkatkan Sumber Daya Guru khusus untuk di Kecamatan Tambelan. Hal ini di karenakan , Pemerintah Kabupaten Bintan menginginkan agar anak-anak Kecamatan Tambelan dapat merasakan dunia pendidikan seperti di daerah lain di Kabupaten Bintan.
