Kalimantan Barat – Presiden Joko Widodo melakukan penanaman pohon bersama masyarakat di salah satu daerah aliran sungai (DAS) di Kabupaten Sintang, Provinsi Kalimantan Barat, Rabu (08/12/2021).
Kegiatan penanaman pohon tersebut merupakan bagian dari upaya pemulihan lingkungan di area bekas-bekas tambang yang ada di Provinsi Kalimantan Barat yang nantinya akan juga dilakukan di provinsi-provinsi lain.
“Kita tahu ini adalah bekas pertambangan emas kira-kira tahun ’90-an. Kemudian tadi kita telah menanam vegetasi pohon baik itu buah-buahan dan spesies-spesies yang lainnya,” ujar Presiden di lokasi penanaman.
Presiden berharap daerah tangkapan air (DTA) atau catchment area dan daerah aliran sungai (DAS) di hulu Sungai Kapuas maupun Sungai Melawi yang rusak karena aktivitas pertambangan dan perkebunan bisa pulih kembali. Penanaman pohon juga diharapkan bisa dilakukan di tempat-tempat area bekas tambang lainnya.
“Selain kita akan juga membangun sebuah persemaian (nursery) di lingkungan Sungai Kapuas dalam rangka penanaman kembali, rehabilitasi kembali hutan-hutan kita yang rusak,” imbuhnya.
Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (LHK), Siti Nurbaya Bakar, dalam laporan tertulisnya menyebut wilayah hulu DAS Kapuas merupakan kawasan resapan air yang harus dilestarikan karena potensi penyimpanan air tahan sebagian besar berasal dari kawasan tersebut.
“Jika kawasan ini rusak, potensi hidrologi yang besar tersebut akan hilang,” ujar Menteri LHK.
DAS Kapuas membentang dari Kabupaten Kapuas Hulu sampai ke Kota Pontianak yang melintasi sejumlah kabupaten lainnya yakni Kabupaten Sintang, Kabupaten Melawi, Kabupaten Sekadau, Kabupaten Sanggau, dan Kabupaten Landak. Sejak tahun 2016, DAS Kapuas termasuk dalam target rencana strategis prioritas Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan untuk dipulihkan daya dukungnya karena pertimbangan tingkat kekritisan lahan.
Selain itu, secara khusus Presiden juga telah menetapkan untuk dibangun satu unit persemaian secara luas untuk rehabilitasi hutan dan lahan di Kalimantan Barat khususnya DTA Kapuas. Kapasitas bibit direncanakan untuk minimal 10 juta bibit per tahun.
“Bisa dilakukan dengan pola public-private partnerships dan inilah juga saat di mana swasta ikut secara langsung dalam tanggung jawab pemulihan lingkungan,” imbuh Menteri LHK.
Turut mendampingi Presiden dalam kegiatan penanaman pohon tersebut yaitu Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Menteri Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat Basuki Hadimuljono, Menteri Perhubungan Budi Karya Sumadi, Menteri Sekretaris Negara Pratikno, Kepala Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB) Suharyanto, Gubernur Kalimantan Barat Sutarmidji, dan Bupati Sintang Jarot Winarno.
